At the end of 2002, Xinjiang University Library started the construction of digital library. The school invested 9 million yuan to update automatic management equipment and network facilities. And bought some electronic information resources. There are three kinds of CD-ROM databases and network databases 13: China periodical full-text database, China sci-tech periodical full-text database, Wanfang data resource system, China information database, ProQuest dissertation full-text database, OCLC FirstSearch basic group database, Elesiver, Kluwer, Springer, ACS full-text electronic periodical database, and Founder, superstar and scholar e-books with a total storage capacity of 7TB. The bibliographic database of Chinese, folk and some foreign languages built by the library has reached186,000. The construction of Xinjiang university dissertations database, newspapers and periodicals bibliography database, Xinjiang local literature bibliography and full-text database is under way.
