First, the first course requirements

VIII. Statement of Purpose (SOP) requirements in the document
Prepare a concise one-page or two-page article, describing your main research areas of interest, relevant experience and your goal of pursuing a postgraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University.
SOP should describe your interests and motives in detail. When describing your research interests, you should explain why you think they are important research fields and why you are particularly suitable for these studies.
SOP should emphasize relevant education, research, business, government or teaching experience.
If you apply for multiple projects, you need to submit a separate statement of purpose for each project.
