Heilongjiang institute of technology is located in Harbin, a famous northern city with beautiful scenery. The school was founded in 1952, and its predecessor was Heilongjiang Communications College under the Heilongjiang Provincial Communications Department and Harbin Engineering College under the former Ministry of Metallurgy. In March, 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was merged and renamed as heilongjiang institute of technology, which is a provincial full-time general undergraduate college with work-oriented and multidisciplinary coordinated development.
The school covers an area of nearly 800,000 square meters. The school has three master's degree authorization points, namely, resources and environment, transportation and art, three disciplines with national defense characteristics, such as electric power, optics and computer, and two provincial key construction disciplines, such as transportation engineering and surveying and mapping science and technology. There are 56 undergraduate majors in the school, of which 15 was selected as the first-class construction major in the "Two Million Plan" of the country/province, and 7 majors passed the national engineering education certification.
