For example, Fundamentals of Water Treatment Microbiology, co-edited by Li Xianwen and others, has been reprinted for three times and has been well received by teachers and students. At the same time, he is the director of the editorial board of water supply, drainage and environmental engineering teaching materials in colleges and universities of the Ministry of Construction and the director of the environmental engineering teaching materials committee of the State Education Commission. Under the leadership of the relevant departments, together with other committee members, he conducted many studies and discussions on the subject affiliation, professional content and training objectives of environmental engineering specialty, made clear the professional orientation and training objectives, formulated the teaching plans and basic requirements of various courses, and compiled 18 kinds of teaching materials, which made the environmental engineering specialty have a set of relatively systematic and basic trial teaching materials and made great contributions to environmental engineering and municipal engineering education. Since the reform and opening up, Gu Xiasheng has trained the first doctor of environmental engineering in China. He is strict with graduate students and carefully cultivates them; Emphasize the rationality and adaptability of students' knowledge structure, pay special attention to enriching basic knowledge and broadening knowledge; Students are required to apply book knowledge to engineering practice and enrich theory with practical work experience. Gu Xia teaches by example, and the doctoral students he trained have good professional quality and high ideological consciousness, and most of them have become the backbone of each unit.
