Northwest A&F University is called Xinong or Northwest Agricultural University for short. Northwest A&F University is located in Yangling, Shaanxi, an agricultural city in China. It is one of the national key universities directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and one of the 32 key universities directly under the central government. It is a world-class university, a construction university, a key university of the 985 Project and 2 1 1 project, and was selected into the national1/plan and 2 1 project.

The school is jointly established by the Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Water Resources, State Forestry Administration and other ministries and commissions 16 and Shaanxi Province. It is the birthplace of modern higher agricultural education in northwest China, and the most complete agricultural college in China, with the wine specialty ranking first in the country.
