The school was founded in 1955, formerly known as Xi 'an Aviation Industry School, and was affiliated to the former Ministry of Aviation Industry. 1957 merged with Lanzhou Aviation Industry School. 1960 was upgraded to a junior college and renamed Xi' an Institute of Aviation Industry, which was later restored due to national economic adjustment.

The First Aviation College of the PLA Air Force (referred to as the First Aviation College of the Air Force): It is subordinate to the China People's Liberation Army Air Force at the division level. The college is located in Xinyang City, Henan Province, which is known as the "Pearl of South Henan".
