Central South University is not in the QS ranking of Asian universities.

On April 29, 2000, Central South University was formed by the merger of Central South University of Technology, Hunan Medical University and Changsha Railway Institute in the reform of national institutions of higher learning. It can be traced back to Hunan Higher Institute of Technology and Xiangya Medical College founded by 1903 and 19 14 respectively.

Central South University of Technology, formerly known as Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (1952), enjoys a world-renowned mining discipline and is known as the "Huangpu of Mining and Metallurgy" in China. Changsha Railway Institute, formerly known as Central South Institute of Architecture and Engineering (1953), enjoys the reputation of "Troika" in domestic civil engineering. Hunan Medical University, formerly known as Xiangya Medical College (19 14), is the earliest institution of higher learning of western medicine in China, enjoying the reputation of "Xiangya in the south and Concord in the north".

The school emblem of Central South University mainly includes the school emblem and the school emblem.

The school emblem is a double-circle symbol of blue and white. Creativity comes from traditional Chinese knot modeling. The picture takes the English abbreviation "CSU" of "Central South University" as the structural center, forming a Chinese knot shape. Right below is the Chinese character "Central South University", right above is the capital of Central South University in circular English, and the inner and outer circles are connected by the left and right bottom 10 line.

The blue color code of the emblem is CMYK: 90.50. 10.0, which symbolizes the combination of science and technology and humanities. The school emblem is a rectangular badge with the name "Central South University" written on it worn by faculty and students. Teachers' badges are written in gold on a crimson background, postgraduates' badges are written in gold on a blue background, and undergraduates' badges are written in gold on a green background. All rectangular badges are inlaid with gold edges.
