Inner Mongolia Agricultural University (IMAU) is located in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The school is a full-time ordinary college founded by the former State Forestry Administration and the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is one of the key universities supported by "one province, one school" in China's western development, the first batch of national college students' cultural quality education bases, and the recipient institution of China government's scholarship for foreign students in China. It was selected into the basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions, the national postgraduate program for building high-level universities, the key discipline project with characteristics, and the education and training program for outstanding agricultural and forestry talents. The school is supported by China Agricultural University.

1952 The former Hebei Agricultural College, the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of Pingyuan Agricultural College and the Veterinary Department of Shanxi Agricultural College moved to Guisui (now Hohhot) to form Inner Mongolia Animal Husbandry and Veterinary College; 1958, Inner Mongolia Forestry College was established; 1960, Inner Mongolia Animal Husbandry and Veterinary College was renamed Inner Mongolia Agricultural and Animal Husbandry College; 65438-0999 Inner Mongolia Agricultural College and Inner Mongolia Forestry College merged to form Inner Mongolia Agricultural University.
