Since 1946, two universities in Korea and Yonsei have held sports games every year, which has promoted the friendship between universities and played a pioneering role in the development of modern national sports, which is of great significance in the history of modern sports in Korea.
The origin of Gao can be traced back to the Japanese imperialist occupation period, starting with the OB football match between the First Special School (predecessor of Yonsei University) and Pucheng Special School (predecessor of Korea University) in February, and then the OB basketball match between the two schools, 1946 and the football match between the active players of the two schools in June of the same year, 10. Subsequently, the two universities held regular sports competitions every September. Gao is very important to the students in these two universities. Through the competition, students from these two schools can get together and get to know each other. At the same time, this game is not only a war with Qatar, but also attracts the attention of the people all over the country. Every year, TV stations and newspapers will report the results of the Gao Yan war.
The traditional color of tall is red, symbolizing the tiger, and the traditional color of Yanda is blue, symbolizing the eagle. A week before the start of Gao Yan War, the two sides have entered a state of fighting. The whole street near Korea University is covered with banners cheering for Korea University and mocking Yanshi University. Yanshida is not to be outdone. Yanshida is located in Xincun and has an excellent geographical position. The new village is full of banners that demoralize Korea, and there are many banners that mock the name of Korea University.
During the competition, the elites of the two schools participated in five events: football, ice hockey, baseball, basketball and rugby. Because it is only a competition between the two schools, there is no preliminaries and rematches, and the intensity of the competition can be imagined. In addition to the players on the field, the support of cheerleaders and alumni off the field is also desperately trying to compare with each other.
Gao usually ends with a carnival night. On carnival night, the restaurants around the host school will provide drinks and food for free, but if you want to enjoy a free dinner, you must prove your strength by dancing. All the students, regardless of nationality, win or lose, get together and enjoy themselves.
