This is a university. Ningxia Open University is a comprehensive institution of higher learning under the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, which integrates higher vocational education, adult academic education, non-academic education and continuing education. It bears the important responsibility of perfecting Ningxia vocational education system and building a skilled society, as well as the historical mission of building Ningxia lifelong education system and building a learning society. The school was established in April 2002 with the approval of the people's government of the autonomous region.

Ningxia Radio and TV University, Ningxia Heavy Industry Workers College, Ningxia Science and Technology Workers College and Ningxia Mechanical Technology School were merged and established in July 2004. After 2005, Ningxia Agricultural School, Ningxia Light Industry School, Ningxia Agricultural Reclamation Workers Secondary Specialized School and Ningxia People's Armed School were merged into the school one after another. On June 5438+February 1 1 day, 2020, the government of the autonomous region officially approved the renaming of Ningxia Radio and TV University as Ningxia Open University.
