Chongqing University (CQU) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), which was co-founded by the Ministry of Education, Chongqing Municipality and the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.

The school was founded in 1929, 1942 became a comprehensive university, 1952 was transformed into a multidisciplinary university, 1960 was identified as a national key university, and1project was a key construction project.

In 2000, Chongqing University merged chongqing jianzhu university and Chongqing Institute of Architecture. In 20001,it was listed as the "985 Project" key construction university, and in 2006,5438+07, it was selected as the "double-class" construction university.

However, due to the turbulent situation in Sichuan, the funds needed for the establishment of the school have not been settled, and the discussion on the establishment of the school has been shelved for several years.
