Henan Open University is an undergraduate college, not a junior college.

Henan Open University is a new undergraduate institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the People's Government of Henan Province. Its predecessor was Henan Radio and TV University, which was founded in 1979. In 2020, it was officially renamed Henan Open University, 1 1.

With the mission of promoting lifelong learning for all and building a skilled society, supported by modern information technology and characterized by "internet plus", the school carries out academic education and non-academic education for the society.

In 2009, with the consent of the provincial government, Zhengzhou Vocational College of Information Technology, a public full-time general vocational college, was managed by the school. The two universities implement the operation mode of "one organization, two brands, unified leadership and integrated operation".

1. The departments mainly include: School of Humanities and Public Administration, Department of Ideological and Political Theory, School of Finance and Accounting, School of Business Administration, School of Information Engineering, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Architecture and Engineering, School of Art and Department of Physical Education.

2. The main schools are: Agricultural Medical College, Special Education College, Training College, Henan Radio and Television Secondary Specialized School, Community Education College, Network Education College and Henan Radio and Television University.

3. Academy settings mainly include: Runxin Academy, Wenxin Academy and Ingenuity Academy.
