Harbin University for the Aged, located on the south bank of the beautiful Songhua River, was founded in April 1984, and is one of the earliest universities for the aged in China. Jointly run by Heilongjiang Province and Harbin Municipal Government, it is the only multi-disciplinary, multi-educational, multi-level and comprehensive institution of higher learning for the elderly in China, which undertakes the tasks of national, provincial and municipal education and scientific research for the elderly.
