Hangzhou Dianzi University is a teaching and research university with outstanding electronic information characteristics, obvious advantages in economic management, and mutual penetration of engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art. It was founded in 1956. The original name of the school was Hangzhou Aviation Industry Finance and Economics School, and it passed through Hangzhou Aviation Industry School, Zhejiang Electric Machinery Institute, Zhejiang Machinery Industry School, Hangzhou Radio Industry Management School and Hangzhou Radio Industry School. 1980 Hangzhou institute of electronic technology was established with the approval of the State Council. In 2003, the original Hangzhou Publishing School was integrated and renamed Hangzhou Dianzi University in 2004. The school has been affiliated to the Second Ministry of Machinery Industry, Fourth Ministry of machinery industry, Ministry of Electronics Industry, Ministry of Information Industry and other central ministries and commissions. In 2000, the school management system established by Zhejiang Province and the Ministry of Information Industry was implemented, with Zhejiang Province as the main management. In 2007, it became a university jointly established by Zhejiang Province and the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and 20 15 was listed as a key construction university in Zhejiang Province. The school insists on being based in Zhejiang, relying on industry, facing the world, serving the society and supporting national defense, adhering to the fine tradition of "unity and diligence, seeking truth from facts, pioneering and innovating", carrying forward the school motto spirit of "being diligent in learning, keeping integrity and seeking innovation", and forming a distinctive school-running feature.
The campus environment is beautiful and picturesque. Now it has five campuses in Xiasha, Wen Yi, Dongyue, Xiasha East and Qingshan Lake, 19 colleges and teaching units, and 1 independent colleges. The school has a complete talent training system including undergraduate education, postgraduate education, education for international students in China and continuing education. At present, there are 45 undergraduate enrollment majors, of which 22 are selected as national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites and 22 are selected as provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites. It has 2 national comprehensive reform pilot majors, 6 pilot majors of "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, 7 national professional construction sites and 2 key majors with national defense characteristics. It is the only provincial university with national defense characteristics. There are 9 first-class doctoral programs, 4 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 19 first-class master programs, and 18 professional master programs, which are exempted from master programs and IELTS test sites. There are 4 disciplines with national defense characteristics, 2 top disciplines in Zhejiang Province, 2 first-class disciplines in Zhejiang Province, 4 first-class disciplines in Zhejiang Province (Class A), 6 first-class disciplines in Zhejiang Province (Class B), Zhejiang Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Sciences 1 each, Zhejiang Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences 1 each, and Zhejiang Key Discipline1each.
In 2022, Hangzhou Dianzi University was upgraded to an undergraduate enrollment major.
