Chen Yuntai is an academician of China Academy of Sciences and a geophysicist. Born in Chaoyang, Guangdong Province, 1940 was born in Xiamen, Fujian Province in August. 1962 graduated from Peking University. 1966 Graduated from Institute of Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Researcher and honorary director of Institute of Geophysics, Seismological Bureau of China. 2065 438+05 10, 15 was elected as the first member of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG).

Since 1970s, Chen Yuntai has published 150 articles in academic journals at home and abroad, and his co-authored Fundamentals of Geophysics and Source Theory have long been regarded as the main textbooks in this field. His research achievements have won the National Science Congress Award (1978), the third prize of the National Natural Science Award (1987), the second prize of the Scientific and Technological Progress Award of the Seismological Bureau of China (1983, 1985, 1988) and the first prize. 1986 was rated as an expert with outstanding contributions by the Ministry of Personnel. Long-term tutor for master students (198 1 present), doctoral tutor (1984/present) and postdoctoral tutor. He also served as a part-time professor at the Graduate School of China Academy of Sciences, and a part-time (visiting) professor at Beijing Petroleum University, Zhejiang University and Qingdao Ocean University. Since 1978, more than 200 students and graduate students have been trained, including 2 Iranian doctoral students and several foreign postdoctoral students (Romania, Germany and other countries).

Chen Yuntai's contribution to seismology has attracted the attention of international colleagues. He was the vice chairman of the International Federation of Digital Seismological Networks (FDSN) (1989 to 199 1 year) and the editorial board of the international academic journal Pure and Applied Geophysics (1995 to 1999). At present, he is the editorial board member of the international academic journal JOSE( 1998- present). Member of the Academic Committee of UNESCO-International Geological Correlation Program 4 14 (UNESCO -IGCP Project 4 14) "Realistic Modeling of Earthquake Input in Megacities and Metropolitan Areas" (1995 to present); He has made invited reports or presided over meetings at international conferences such as IUGG, IASPEI, ASC and WPGM, served as a member of nomination committees of IASPEI and ASC for many times, and served as the chairman or teacher of international seminars or training courses for many times. 1987, the Grand Duke of Luxembourg awarded a medal in recognition of Chen Yuntai's contribution to scientific research and promoting scientific and technological cooperation between China and Luxembourg.
