Joensuu University was founded in 1969, including six departments and nine independent units. The school offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in eight different fields, mainly including education, anthropology, natural science, social science, economics, forestry, theology and psychology. Joensu University has campuses in joensuu and Savonlinna.
