Some departments of Engineering College of Nanjing University became Nanjing Engineering College and later became Southeast University. The Department of Water Conservancy of Institute of Technology became Hohai University; The Department of Chemical Engineering of Institute of Technology is the predecessor of Nanjing University of Technology; Teachers College became Nanjing Normal University; Agricultural College became Nanjing Agricultural University; The Forestry Department of Agricultural College became Nanjing Forestry University; The Department of Meteorological Engineering was renamed Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology.
The departments that moved out include these: the business school became Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; Aviation Department of Institute of Technology became Northwestern Polytechnical University; Medical college became the fourth military medical university; Department of Food Engineering of Institute of Technology became Jiangnan University; Department of Agricultural Machinery of Institute of Technology became Jiangsu University; School of Law became East China University of Political Science and Law; The Department of Psychology became the Institute of Psychology of Chinese Academy of Sciences; The audio-visual department became the Beijing Film Academy; Central University Medical College became Fudan University Medical College; The wired part of the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Institute of Technology has become the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China; The National Conservatory of Music became the Central Conservatory of Music.
