The Department of Biochemistry has many research directions, such as plant molecular biology, epigenetics, gene expression regulation, drug development and screening. , focusing on relevant research of great significance to national economic and social development, and undertaking a number of national, provincial, enterprise and international cooperation projects.
Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology: Founded in 2003, it was reorganized on the basis of the Department of Environment and Resource Biology of the former School of Life. The current dean is Professor Bouwing Lo, with 65,438+00 professors and 8 associate professors.
There are two doctoral degree awarding points in botany and ecology, which recruit doctoral students in eight directions: wetland ecology, soil ecology, biological invasion ecology, ecosystem ecology, landscape ecology, systematic and evolutionary botany, utilization and protection of genetic resources, and molecular evolution. There are also three master's degree awarding points in botany, zoology and ecology, and postdoctoral mobile stations in biology. It undertakes nearly 20 basic degree courses for undergraduates and postgraduates in institutions of higher learning, such as introduction to biodiversity science, general biology, zoology, plant biology, general ecology, bioinformatics and life evolution.
The research field focuses on ecology, biodiversity and evolutionary biology, and explores life phenomena and basic laws from macro and micro biological perspectives. The main research directions include: the theory and method of biodiversity science; Population and evolutionary ecology; Genetic diversity and biosafety; Biological invasion and ecological security; Urban ecology and ecological economics; Biodiversity informatics; Resource biology.
