School profile

The Institute of Oriental Culture was founded by Professor Lin Xudian, a famous Singaporean educator and sinologist. Professor Lin has taught in the Chinese Department of the National University of Singapore for more than 30 years and served as the head of the department for nearly 30 years. The Institute of Oriental Culture was established in 1993, registered with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and its director is Professor Lin. The Institute of Oriental Culture takes the promotion of oriental culture and the communication between eastern and western cultures as its main purpose and the principle of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude as its principle, and provides various opportunities for young students at home and abroad to further their studies. Since 1997, the Institute of Oriental Culture has cooperated with Peking University, the highest institution in China. At that time, it was the only university in Singapore that cooperated with Peking University. China Diploma in Language and Literature and Higher Diploma courses, which are equivalent to junior college education, were originally co-organized. Starting from 1999, the undergraduate course of China Language and Literature will be further co-organized.

Later, the Institute of Oriental Culture signed cooperation agreements with many universities in China. In view of China's accession to the World Trade Organization, there will be a great demand for talents who are proficient in English, familiar with western business management methods and modes and international trade. In 2000, Professor Lin Xudian founded the Oriental School of Management, offering business courses such as business management, accounting and finance for China students, and signed cooperation agreements with many universities in Australia, Britain and New Zealand, so that China students majoring in business management, accounting and finance can be admitted to the University of New Cuthell in Australia, the University of the West of England in Britain or the National University of New Zealand. At the same time, the Oriental School of Management cooperates with the National Lincoln University to provide pre-university courses for China students who can be admitted to eight national universities in New Zealand. In addition, the English Department of Oriental School of Management cooperates with the Language Teaching Institute-Southeast Asia Regional Language Center LTI- Southeast Asia Regional Language Center Relc Language Teaching Institute to provide English teacher qualification courses for in-service English teachers in China. The intensive English courses offered by the English Department of Oriental School of Management will be guaranteed by the Institute of Language Teaching, and a certificate of English proficiency will be issued.
