Nanjing Art Institute, referred to as "Nanyi" for short, is located in the main urban area of Nanjing, where history and modernity complement each other, and in the urban cultural circle where tradition and fashion blend organically. As the earliest independent art college in China, it was co-founded by the Ministry of People, Culture and Tourism of China and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province. It is the only comprehensive art college in Jiangsu Province, the earliest independent art college in China and one of the six national art colleges. Nanyi gave birth to the earliest art school system in China and initiated the earliest university disciplines such as art, music, dance, theory and drama in China. It is a century-old prestigious school with a long history and profound foundation.
