2. Sun Yat-sen University is the highest institution of higher learning in South China and a national key comprehensive research university. Sun Yat-sen University was founded in 1924, formerly known as National Guangdong University. Founded by Dr. Sun Yat-sen after integrating Guangdong Normal University, Guangzhou University of Public Law and Guangdong Public Agricultural School, it was later renamed as "National Sun Yat-sen University" and "National No.1 Sun Yat-sen University".
