Chen Guying, 1935 was born in Changting, Fujian. He graduated from the Department of Philosophy and the Institute of Philosophy of Taiwan Province Provincial University. He has been a lecturer and associate professor in the Department of Philosophy of Taiwan Province Provincial University, a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, and a professor in the Department of Philosophy of Peking University. He is currently a professor in the Department of Philosophy of Taiwan Province Provincial University and a professor in the Department of Philosophy of China Culture University. Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Taoist Cultural Studies. His works include: The Tragic Philosopher Nietzsche, Nietzsche's New Theory, Existentialism, Zhuangzi's Philosophy, Lao Zi's Annotation and Interpretation, Zhuangzi's Annotation and Translation, Huangdi's Four Classics Annotation and Translation, Laozi and Zhuangzi's New Theory, Yi Zhuan and Taoist Thought, Guanzi's Four Annotations and the Portrait of Jesus.
