According to official website of Anhui Provincial Department of Education, as of July 8, 2023, there were only 1 985 universities in Anhui Province, namely University of Science and Technology of China. The "985 Project" refers to the major decision made by the Chinese Production Party, People's Republic of China (PRC) and the State Council at the turn of the century to build a world-class university.
