The School of Electrical and Automation Engineering of Tianjin University is famous for its rigorous scholarship and pragmatism. Ye Pei Da, former president of Tsinghua University and honorary president of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Liang, an expert in power generation engineering and equipment, Professor He Jiali, an expert in power system relay protection and academician of Russian Academy of Engineering, Academician Yu Yixin, an expert in power system analysis, planning and simulation, Professor Chen, an internationally renowned expert in electrical engineering, and Mr. China, a famous entrepreneur in power system, have successively trained a large number of outstanding talents. The college has electrical engineering, control science and engineering disciplines, all of which are first-class disciplines authorized by doctors and masters, and have postdoctoral mobile stations respectively. Among the eight two disciplines (power system and automation, electrical machinery and appliances, high voltage and insulation technology, power electronics and power transmission, electrical theory and new technology, control theory and control engineering, detection technology and automation device and pattern recognition and intelligent system) affiliated to the College, power system and automation, detection technology and automation device are national key disciplines. The college has two broad-caliber undergraduate majors: electrical engineering and automation. Every year, there are about 330 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students (about 240 graduate students and 60 doctoral students).

The college has more than 20 scientific research and teaching laboratories, including: Key Laboratory of Smart Grid, Tianjin Key Laboratory of Power System Simulation and Control, Tianjin Key Laboratory of Process Detection and Control, Joint Research Center of New Aircraft of Ministry of Education (Advanced Guidance and Control Sub-center) and Tianjin Power Distribution System Planning and Automation Technology Promotion Center. As well as Building Automation Center (with Honeywell Company of the United States), Electric Power Research and Training Center (with North China Electric Power Company, Tianjin Electric Power Company, Henan Electric Power Company, Tianjin Dagang Power Plant and other units), Tianjin University-mitsubishi electric Automation Laboratory (with mitsubishi electric (China) Company), Tianjin Electric Power New Energy and Intelligent Distribution. Now it has more than 3,000 sets of various experimental instruments and equipment, with a total equipment value of nearly 100 million yuan and a total laboratory area of nearly 10,000 square meters. Most laboratories and research platforms can be opened to students and enterprises to cultivate students' innovative ability and solve practical problems of enterprises. In the past five years, * * has completed more than 400 scientific research projects (including 2 national 973 projects), won the second prize of national technological invention 20 12, and won two national science and technology projects 20 1 20 10. In 20 12, the institute undertook more than 50 million yuan of scientific research projects, forming a number of characteristic research directions with certain influence at home and abroad.
