The Department of Architecture of Zhejiang University was founded in 1958 and closed during the Cultural Revolution. 1978 resumed undergraduate enrollment, with a four-year academic system. 198 1 academic system was changed to five years, making it the second school in China to be in line with the international academic system after Tsinghua. 1987, the department of architecture was established separately. 1999, after the merger of the four schools, it was affiliated to the School of Architecture and Engineering. Successive department heads (moderators) are Associate Professor Wang (1987), Professor Shen (1988- 1998) and Professor Bu Jinghua (1999-2005). At present, the department head is Professor Wang Zhu and the assistant department head is Associate Professor Zhu Yuheng.

Faculty: There are 55 faculty members in the Department of Architecture, with a teaching and research team that combines the old with the young, including national survey and design master 1 person, 4 doctoral supervisors and 22 master supervisors (including doctoral supervisors); 8 professors (professor-level senior engineer), 2 1 associate professor (senior engineer), 1 postdoctoral fellow, 2 1 lecturer; There are 12 teachers with doctoral degrees, and 9 teachers are studying for doctoral degrees.
Teaching level: in June 2004, it won the excellent level of national architectural education evaluation (7-year validity period, including master's education), and it is one of the only five architectural departments in China to obtain the excellent level of 7-year validity period. Since September 2005, on the basis of architecture undergraduate major, the scope of landscape architecture specialty has been expanded, and now there are 32 1 undergraduate students.
Facilities: The hardware facilities of the building department are leading in China. There are about 7,800 square meters of teaching, experiment and office buildings in Zijingang Campus of Zhejiang University, including complete professional design classrooms, multimedia classrooms and reference rooms, as well as various professional laboratories such as architectural physics, architectural photography, architectural models and architectural CAD. It has more than 10,000 yuan of instruments and equipment 193 sets, and 35,000 books in Chinese and foreign languages.
Discipline construction: The discipline of "Architecture" in the Department of Architecture has obtained a master's degree in the first-class discipline, and the backbone of its two disciplines, "Architectural Design and Theory", received doctoral degrees in June 2003 at 5438+065438+ 10, and was approved as a key discipline in Zhejiang Province in June 2004 at 5438+065438+ 10. At present, the overall strength of the Department of Architecture is at the advanced level in China, ranking 8- 10 nationwide. There are five research directions and teaching and research departments: architectural design and theory, architectural history and theory, urban planning and design, architectural technology science, architectural environment art and fine arts.
Scientific research achievements: In recent five years, a research system centered on "Research on Human Settlements and Regional Architecture in the Yangtze River Delta" has been established, and the funding for vertical and horizontal scientific research projects is nearly 70 million yuan, with an average annual completion of nearly 6.5438+0.4 million yuan. * * * Published academic monograph 15, * * * published 274 academic papers in various journals, and won 37 provincial and ministerial awards. On the basis of newly-added undergraduate landscape, according to the development trend of architecture at home and abroad, and on the basis of the original four research directions, a new landscape research direction is set up to keep up with the pace of international development.
