Nantong University was founded in 19 12, which originated from the private Nantong Medical College and Nantong Textile Institute founded by Mr. Zhang Jian, a famous industrialist and educator in modern times. In 2004, the former Nantong Medical College, Nantong Institute of Technology and Nantong Teachers College merged to form the new Nantong University.
The school is a comprehensive university jointly established by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Transport, which is the peak of high-level university construction planning in Jiangsu Province. It ranks 106 in the evaluation of China University in 2022 by Chinese Academy of Management Sciences, 1 14 in the comprehensive ranking of ESI China University, and 33rd in the ranking of outstanding medical alumni trained by China University in 2020.
