In recent years, the Music Department has trained a large number of high-level music teachers, shouldering the heavy responsibility of key music teachers in universities and various schools, and trained a large number of professional actors, performers and high-level musicians for concert halls, theaters and international music groups. The Music Department has a master's degree in musicology and a doctorate in music art linguistics. Recruit graduate students in piano art, vocal music art, conducting art, flute playing, violin playing, western music history, music pedagogy and other directions, and recruit doctoral students in piano art research and conducting art research. It also owns the Symphony Orchestra of East China Normal University and the Opera Experiment Center of East China Normal University.
The Symphony Orchestra of East China Normal University was established in 2002 and formally established in 2006, with Professor Hou Runyu as the permanent conductor. After several years of development, it is now a double-tube orchestra with more than 100 players, all of whom are young teachers and undergraduates in the Music Department of the Art College. He has performed in Shanghai and other cities in China for many times, and has accumulated a lot of performances and rich stage experience. In September 2007, the orchestra successfully held its first public performance in Shanghai Concert Hall, which was well received by all walks of life. In February, 2008, a group of 55 orchestra members went to the United States to perform works with national characteristics, such as Spring Festival Overture and Moonlit Night on the Spring River, and collaborated with Arkansas State Central University and the University of Memphis Symphony Orchestra to create famous western music, which caused great repercussions in the local area. In April 2009, the orchestra also held a special concerto concert in Shanghai Concert Hall. The Symphony Orchestra of East China Normal University has trained a number of outstanding musicians. Students have successively become members of Chinese and foreign orchestras such as Asian Youth Orchestra, Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, making important contributions to the development of music discipline.
In order to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth, on June 5438+ 10, 2007, the Art College of East China Normal University and the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts in Austria performed Mozart's opera "Girl Pretending to be a Gardener" in the court theater of Sch? nbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of East China Normal University, which was a great success and created a precedent for domestic universities and famous foreign art colleges to perform operas together.
