Zhejiang University of Technology was founded in 1953, and its predecessor can be traced back to Zhejiang Secondary Technical School founded in 19 10. It has experienced the development stages of Hangzhou School of Chemical Technology, Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology, Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology, Zhejiang Institute of Technology and Zhejiang University of Technology. Zhejiang Economic Management Cadre College, Hangzhou Shipbuilding Industry School and Zhejiang Building Materials Industry School were merged into Zhejiang University of Technology on 1994, 1999 and 200/kloc-0 respectively.
On June 8, 2009, Zhejiang Province signed a construction agreement with the Ministry of Education, and Zhejiang University of Technology entered the ranks of key construction universities of the Ministry of Education. The disciplines cover eleven categories, including science, engineering, literature, law, agriculture, philosophy, economics, medicine, management, teaching and arts, and can be awarded degrees in eleven disciplines, including science, engineering, literature, law, medicine, agriculture, philosophy, economics, teaching, management and arts.
