1953 was born in Shanghai. He is currently a professor, supervisor and dean of the School of Media and Design of Shanghai Jiaotong University. Doctor of History jointly trained by Fudan University and Waseda University in Japan (199 1). He used to be the vice president of the School of Journalism of Fudan University, the doctoral supervisor, the director of the Information and Communication Research Center of Fudan University (the key research base of liberal arts of the Ministry of Education), the leader of the communication discipline (the national key discipline) of Fudan University, and the first president of the China Communication Society.

198 1 was selected to study in Tokyo University, and was one of the first journalists and communicators who went abroad after China's reform and opening up. Later, he visited the United States, Britain, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other countries, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and was employed as a visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo and a visiting professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

So far, he has presided over more than 30 projects at home and abroad. These include: mass communication, national key project of philosophy and social sciences, China development communication, Shanghai key project of philosophy and social sciences, Shanghai citizens and media culture, national "2 1 1" project, China mass media credibility, Sino-US cooperation project, comparison of news values of ten countries, Sino-British cooperation project, mass media and poverty alleviation, etc.

He has published more than 20 books and over 100 papers. Among them, Classic of Communication in the 20th Century, News Media and Society, Modern Mass Communication, Principles of Communication, History of Modern Mass Communication in Japan, etc. At the same time, more than 20 master students, 40 doctoral students and 10 postdoctoral students have been trained. In 2002, China Communication Society, the first national communication academic group in China's history, was established with colleagues from all over the country and was elected as the first president.

He has successively won more than 20 awards, including the title of "Cross-century Outstanding Talents" by the Ministry of Education, the special allowance for "Experts with Outstanding Contributions" by the State Council, the second prize for outstanding achievements in Shanghai philosophy and social sciences, the second prize for outstanding achievements in China News Award, the "Golden Key" award for national books, and the title of "Excellent Postgraduate Tutor" by Fudan University.
