In 2023, People's Public Security University of China ranked 250th in the national undergraduate colleges, and 44th in Peking University. It is an ordinary institution of higher learning directly under the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China and a senior police officer college of the Ministry of Public Security. The People's Public Security University of China, founded in July 1948, is a training course for security cadres in North China held by the Central Committee in Jianping County (now Pingshan County) in Hebei Liberated Area. After that, it experienced the development stages of North China Public Security Cadre School, Central Public Security Cadre School, Central People's Public Security College, Central Political and Legal Cadre School and Central People's Public Security College.
