Most majors in art universities need professional examinations, such as visual communication design, environmental art design, fashion design, product design, jewelry design, dance design, animation, oil painting, Chinese painting, sculpture, art education, as well as vocal music, instrumental music, dance and drama. A small number of majors in art universities do not need professional examinations, but are directly admitted according to the candidates' liberal arts and cultural achievements. These majors are: art history, art theory and criticism, cultural industry and management, advertising, public enterprise management, industrial design of some universities, landscape architecture and so on.
Art foundation is not necessarily cultivated from primary school. Many candidates majoring in art performance only started formal professional training in high school, and they can be admitted to art universities with surprise before the exam. Of course, professional skills will have an advantage from an early age.
