The mission of the Institute is to combine the characteristics of interdisciplinary and comprehensive research in the development of earth science, based on the study of earth system model and key scientific issues, supported by the comprehensive observation data platform of global change, linked by the interaction mechanism between human activities and global change, focused on the breakthrough direction of global change economics, combined with the requirements of China's national economic and social development for earth science, strengthen the ability to predict global and regional climate and environmental changes, effectively serve the national economy, and carry out integrated research on global change and earth system science, and build it into an international standard.
