Private universities (or private universities) refer to universities mainly operated by private capital, generally referring to universities invested by non-local or central governments, which rely entirely or partially on students' tuition fees (rather than public funds) to maintain their operation, and universities have the right to choose their own universities. Its main source of funds depends on tuition, donations, donations and other private funds to maintain its characteristics as an independent non-profit organization. However, it is also unusual for private universities to receive government funding. Private colleges and universities in China were split and moved out in 1950s.

Generally speaking, Christian universities were established in China by Catholic and Protestant churches in China in the years of 19 and the 20th century. Nantong College is one of the earliest agricultural institutions of higher learning in China (Tonghai Agricultural College was founded in 1902), one of the earliest medical institutions of higher learning in China (private Nantong Medical College was founded in 19 12), and the earliest textile institution of higher learning in China (Textile Printing and Dyeing College was founded in 19 12).

Shanghai University is a Baptist church university in Shanghai in the first half of the 20th century. Its campus is located in Simon Road, Yangshupu, on the Huangpu River. In its heyday, it was famous for its arts and sciences business. Hujiang University was founded in 1906, formerly known as Shanghai Baptist University. The original chairman was an American, Dr. Parker. There is also a Baptist theological seminary, headed by an American, Dr. Wan Yingyuan. Liu Zhanen, the first president of China of Hujiang University, carried out a series of rectification and reform on the "China" of Hujiang University, which made Hujiang University famous for its simple style of study, less churches and more China.

It is a famous Christian university founded by the Catholic Jesuits in Shanghai, China, and also a famous university in modern China. It was founded in the former site of Xujiahui Observatory on February 27th, 1903 by pastor Ma of China. The word "Sinian" comes from Sanskrit, which means China. In English, it also means dawn and dawn. Therefore, Ma described Aurora College as the rising sun in Ran Ran, shouldering the heavy responsibility of opening the dawn of China with education, and it will surely have a bright future. The English and French school names are Aurora and L'Aurore respectively.

The original site of Aurora University is now the teaching building of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, No.227 and No.280 Chongqing South Road.
