Shangrao Teachers College, formerly Shangrao Teachers College, was founded in 1958. 1959 was renamed northeastern Jiangxi University and closed during the Cultural Revolution. 1977 school resumed classes, and was upgraded to Shangrao Normal College with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Jiangxi Provincial People's Government in March 2000. In June, 2005, it passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education.

As of February 20 19, the campus covers an area of116 mu, the planned area is 1500 mu, and the total construction area of the school is 440800 square meters, equivalent to 14898 students. Staff 1 1 15, including 72 professors (full senior), 255 associate professors (deputy senior) and 65,438 doctors. The school has 15 secondary colleges, including 5 provincial key disciplines, 2 provincial key laboratories, 4 provincial key engineering centers, 3 experimental teaching demonstration centers in colleges and universities in Jiangxi Province, key research bases of philosophy and social sciences in Jiangxi Province, "20 165438 Collaborative Innovation Center" in Jiangxi Province, and research bases of intangible cultural heritage in Jiangxi Province.15.
