University of Science and Technology Shanghai (hereinafter referred to as University of Science and Technology Shanghai) is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning jointly established by Shanghai Municipal People's Government and China Academy of Sciences. 20 13 was formally established with the approval of the Ministry of Education on September 30th, and was selected for the second round in February 2022. The school is committed to serving the national economic and social development strategy, cultivating scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurial talents, providing scientific and technological solutions and playing the role of think tanks, actively participating in the reform of higher education, participating in the construction of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center, and striving to build a small-scale, high-level and international research-oriented innovative university.
The new campus of the school covers an area of about 900 mu, with a total construction area of about 700,000 square meters. Campus construction fully embodies the planning and design concept of "student-oriented, integration of teaching and scientific research, environmental protection and intelligence". 20 15 was basically completed by the end of the year, and 20 16 was fully put into use.
The school is dominated by science and engineering, and has a college of materials science and technology, a college of life science and technology, a college of information science and technology, a college of entrepreneurship and management, a college of creativity and art, and a college of humanities and biomedical engineering. The college system is implemented, and there is no department under the college. The school has set up immunochemistry research institute, iHuman research institute, mathematical science research institute, big science center and 2060 research institute.

By 2022, according to the teacher-student ratio of1:/kloc-0–1:12, the school will have a faculty of 1000, and plans to employ 500 permanent professors and 500 distinguished professor. Among them, the permanent professors are mainly famous scholars and outstanding young scholars from internationally renowned universities, and the permanent professor system is implemented; Distinguished professor is mainly an outstanding scientist and famous professor at home and abroad from the Institute of Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
As of February, 2002165438, the school has hired 622 professors (distinguished professor 29 1, permanent professor 3 12, teaching professor 19), including 4 Nobel Prize winners, 37 academicians of China Academy of Sciences, 5 academicians of China Academy of Engineering, and American countries.
