What's your experience of "crossing the road in Weihai style"?
As Weihai people, you still have the right to speak when crossing the road.

When I first came to Beijing from college, I was not used to crossing the road. I walked straight ahead after seeing the pedestrian's green light, but I was startled by the car that suddenly rushed out. At that moment, my inner thoughts should be the same as those of the driver: this man is so stupid!

The reason is that I am used to the traffic lights in Weihai, but I was not used to them when I first arrived in Beijing. At first, I thought it was because the traffic lights in big cities in Beijing were different. Later, it was found that only the traffic light system in Weihai was independent, which was different from the national regulations.

In Weihai, traffic lights for motor vehicles usually turn green in the east-west direction and the north-south direction respectively. During this period, the traffic lights of pedestrians and non-motor vehicles are always red, which means that only motor vehicles can pass; After that, the traffic lights of all motor vehicles will turn red, and motor vehicles in all directions can't drive, including right-turning vehicles. Then, all the traffic lights of pedestrians and non-motor vehicles in four directions turn green, and pedestrians in four directions cross the road together.

This is also the reason why I am not used to it when I first arrived in Beijing, because in Weihai, once pedestrians cross the road with a green light, no motor vehicle will turn left or right.

However, with the increase of population and motor vehicles in recent years, the road traffic pressure in Weihai is increasing, and more and more intersections have cancelled this "old" form. Now only some streets in some county-level cities under the jurisdiction of Weihai can see this traffic light.

Being in Yantai, it is common for people to go to Weihai. "Weihai-style crossing the road" can ensure the safety of pedestrians to the maximum extent. As the only city in Shandong Province that implements the "separation of people and vehicles", motor vehicle traffic and pedestrian traffic are completely separated. This way of crossing the road has become a good habit for Weihai people to travel. According to related reports, there has never been a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of Weihai city since it was implemented for more than 20 years. This is in sharp contrast to "Chinese crossing the road". Are people in other cities not civilized enough?

Once upon a time, China's major cities gathered enough people to leave at traffic lights, especially at intersections with heavy pedestrian flow. This so-called "Chinese-style crossing the road" can not fully reflect the phenomenon that a civilized country should have, not to mention the danger of this way of crossing the road. Therefore, most people who have been to Weihai hold a quite positive attitude towards "Weihai-style crossing the road", and many even suggest that this way of crossing the road be popularized throughout the country. But in fact, this method is of little significance in other cities except Weihai in China.

Weihai 1987 was upgraded to a prefecture-level city. By 20 17, the total population of Weihai will be nearly 3 million, while the combined population of Huancui District and Wendeng District in the city center will exceed10 million, and the total traffic volume and people flow will be relatively low, so the traffic congestion in Weihai is far less than that in other big cities.

In first-and second-tier cities, once the traffic and people flow is large, this control method is inefficient. When the flow of people is large, the pedestrian-only location is overcrowded, which will inevitably lead to procrastination and occupy the green light time of motor vehicles. There is more traffic, and the passage time of motor vehicles at intersections is too long, which will inevitably lead to long-term and large-scale congestion, especially in the morning and evening rush hours.

In fact, with the rapid development of cities, road congestion has become an urgent problem in many big cities. How to pass efficiently and fully ensure the safety of pedestrians is a topic of brainstorming among the whole people. Is there a better way?

Welcome to correct me. .

There is a road crossing the road called Weihai Road. When I first arrived in Weihai, it was 2005. At the intersection of Kunming, when the pedestrian lights came on, vehicles in all directions stopped. Pedestrians can cross the road, cross the road or cross the road diagonally. This is really safe. Such intersections were very popular in the three cities and one district of Weihai at that time, and outsiders were surprised when they came. Weihai people don't cross the road when they go to other places.

Only now, with more and more vehicles and more dense traffic, this way of crossing the road is slowly disappearing. The reason is that it takes too much time, so now many intersections have been changed into cars and cars, and outsiders have no feeling, which can let Weihai people who have been away for decades walk like this. I'm really not used to it. I feel too unsafe.

Pedestrians crossing the road in Weihai, if they encounter a zebra crossing without traffic lights, the car will take the initiative to stop and wait for pedestrians to pass, which has a good impression on Weihai.

When I first came to Weihai, I felt that the drivers here were particularly qualified. Even if there were no traffic lights, they stopped to let pedestrians go first. But there are also some people who rob the road.

Support crossing the road like this. This is full respect for the right to use roads. I guess the designer has seen the world. I don't know about other places. At least there is such an intersection in Hong Kong. And when the pedestrian's green light is on, there will never be a right-turn vehicle coming, and there is no need for a funny zebra crossing.

After working in Victoria for more than 20 years, I deeply feel that the traffic in Weihai is better and safer than other cities. Especially in the past two years, when cars were introduced at crosswalks, people had to drive first. It feels very human. At the same time, I also saw the scene that some people with mobility difficulties got out of the way and gave the driver a gift, which made people feel warm. In today's cold age, I am very happy to see the scene of warm heart.

Lightning crossing the road is not good for your legs and feet. It's too difficult to cross the road in Weihai.

Are pedestrians local and cars out of town?
