Changsha University of Science and Technology is a multidisciplinary university focusing on engineering, science, management, economics, literature, law, philosophy and art, with undergraduate education as the main body, with postdoctoral research stations, the right to confer doctoral degrees and the right to exempt master students from examinations. The school is a national advanced grass-roots party organization, a civilized demonstration unit in Hunan Province, and a demonstration school for running schools according to law in Hunan Province.

After more than 60 years of construction and development, the school has accumulated a university culture with "erudition, pragmatism, honesty and innovation" as its motto and "paving stone spirit" as its core. Since its establishment, it has trained more than 400,000 senior professionals for transportation, electric power, water conservancy, light industry and regional economic and social development. The first batch of undergraduate enrollment covers the whole country, and the employment rate of graduates has remained above 95% for many years.
