According to the announcement issued by Hainan Education Department, as of April 16, 2023, there were three universities in Hainan, namely Hainan University, Hainan Normal University and Hainan Medical College. Hainan Province, referred to as "Qiong" for short, is the southernmost provincial administrative region in People's Republic of China (PRC), with Haikou as its capital.
