The college now has four departments (6 teaching and research sections), namely: Materials Chemistry Department (Inorganic and Physical and Chemical Teaching and Research Section), Chemical Engineering Department (Chemical Engineering and Analysis Teaching and Research Section), Food Science Department (Food Science and Engineering Teaching and Research Section, Food Quality and Safety Teaching and Research Section) and Pharmaceutical Engineering Department (Organic Teaching and Research Section, Pharmaceutical Engineering Teaching and Research Section). And five research institutes (centers), including Chemical Engineering Research Institute, New Materials and Applied Electrochemistry Research Institute, Food Science Research Institute and Analysis and Testing Center, and Xiangxi High-tech Entrepreneurship Service Center. * * * Full-time undergraduate majors include chemistry (normal), applied chemistry, chemical engineering and technology, food science and engineering, food quality and safety, pharmaceutical engineering, etc., covering two major disciplines of science and engineering, among which food science and engineering are the provincial key.

The college has a team of teachers with reasonable academic qualifications, professional titles and subject structure, active thinking, high level, courage to innovate and dedication. There are more than 50 faculty members, including professors 17, associate majors or above (excluding professors) 18, doctors 2 1, 39 masters or above, and more than 20 graduate tutors. The College also employs 3 part-time professors, 4 off-campus distinguished professor and 3 off-campus visiting professors. Among the teachers, there are 4 candidates for "12 1" talent project in Hunan Province, 4 candidates for 10 young backbone teachers in Hunan Province, 4 candidates for "Light of the West" in the Central Organization Department, and 2 provincial discipline leaders. The college enrolls students from 30 provinces (cities) in China, with more than full-time undergraduates 1 100 and more than 40 master students. In recent years, the employment rate of students of all majors in the college is 100%, and the admission rate of fresh graduates for postgraduate entrance examination has been in the forefront of the school for many years.
