First, the realistic background and significance of this study.
For a long time, college English teaching mode has been a single teaching mode of "teacher-centered". Teachers are the main body of the classroom and dominate the whole teaching activities. Students are passive listeners in class, and there are few opportunities for real language experience, training and practice. This traditional teaching mode can hardly achieve the goal of improving students' language ability. The progress and development of society and the continuous expansion of international communication space objectively put forward higher requirements for college English teaching in colleges and universities, and at the same time exposed the shortcomings of traditional college English teaching in training objectives, learning requirements, teaching modes, teaching methods, teaching means and teaching efficiency. From June 5, 2004 to 10, in order to adapt to the new situation of China's higher education development, deepen the reform of college English teaching, continuously improve the level of college English teaching, and cultivate students' comprehensive English application ability to meet the needs of the country and society for talent training in the new period, the Ministry of Education organized relevant experts to formulate and publish College English Curriculum Requirements. In 2005, according to the reality of the basic popularization of campus computer network, it is proposed to vigorously promote the college English learning mode based on computer and campus network, and build a personalized teaching system with English language knowledge and application skills, learning strategies and cross-cultural communication as the main content, guided by foreign language teaching theory, and integrating various teaching modes and teaching means. It is pointed out that the teaching goal of college English is to cultivate students' comprehensive English application ability, especially listening and speaking ability, so that students can effectively communicate oral and written information in English in their future work and communication, and at the same time enhance their autonomous learning ability and improve their comprehensive cultural quality through online learning, so as to meet the needs of China's economic development and international communication and the actual needs of personalized teaching. The reform of teaching mode is the focus of this college English teaching reform. Under the new teaching mode, English teaching can be divided into two complementary ways: classroom teaching and computer online autonomous learning. It is divided into real-time synchronous learning under the guidance of teachers, that is, traditional classroom teaching and non-real-time learning under the guidance of teaching plans, that is, various autonomous learning using network technology. In fact, this new teaching mode embodies the mode construction idea of realizing new teaching objectives and maximizing the use of related resources. Enhance students' autonomous learning ability, advocate personalized, inquiry-based and cooperative learning methods, and improve college students' comprehensive cultural literacy and international exchange and cooperation ability. Its reform principles are: strengthening the foundation, highlighting practice, teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, and diverting training; Emphasize the principles of individuality and autonomy in English learning.
Second, the research on similar topics at home and abroad.
The use of online English teaching has experienced three generations in the world. The first generation is the mobile classroom, which moves the classroom teaching content (including forms) to the computer. This has brought many benefits to English teaching. First of all, it brings real language materials into the classroom and enriches English classroom teaching. The second generation tries to give full play to the multi-functional characteristics of computers, create colorful scenes with cameras, expand students' horizons and strengthen English listening and speaking teaching. The third generation is the intelligent stage. Nowadays, multimedia software is highly intelligent, which greatly promotes the process of English online teaching. Because the network-assisted college English teaching is still in the exploratory stage in China, there are bound to be some problems in teaching practice, mainly because the development of teaching software is not mature enough, and the management system of students' learning process in the learning system needs to be improved urgently. For example, there are still some problems in the monitoring of students' learning process, the feedback of online test results and the improvement of students' learning units. In addition, the management platform of teachers in the system lacks the monitoring of students' synchronous learning materials, and can't find the problems in learning in time, which also needs to be improved. In recent years, web-based college English learning has aroused great interest of researchers. In Europe, many countries set autonomous learning as the goal in the syllabus (Aoki, 2000: 142). Some foreign language researchers in China believe that online learning is an important and effective way to improve the quality of foreign language teaching (Cao Rongping, 2003). At the same time, online learning is an effective way to solve the shortage of English teachers in China, and it is also a major measure to embody personalized learning (Wang Xiaoling, 2002). Leslie Dickinson believes that learners' independent and active online learning will enhance their learning motivation, and as a result, their learning efficiency will be improved (Dickinson, 1995).
Third, the content and expected goal of the study.
The main contents of college English online teaching are: making full use of modern educational technology, focusing on promoting new teaching materials and autonomous learning platforms, changing teaching concepts, changing teachers' roles, improving teaching methods, strengthening teaching organization and teaching management, strengthening students' autonomous learning and cooperative learning, and improving students' language communication ability and comprehensive English application ability; At the same time, improve the examination evaluation system, and gradually form an examination evaluation system combining summative evaluation and formative evaluation.
The expected goals of college English teaching improvement are mainly reflected in:
1. Teaching objective: pay attention to the cultivation of listening and speaking ability and language application ability;
2. Learning style: emphasizing autonomous learning, personalized learning and cooperative learning;
3. Curriculum: the combination of multi-level courses and multi-series courses;
4. Teaching methods: a new "student-centered" classroom teaching method;
5. Test system: diversified test systems.
At present, the outstanding problems in college English teaching reform include: unclear teaching ideas, imbalance between teachers and students, some teachers' professional quality and ability to be improved, students' awareness and ability to learn independently is not strong, and the quality of online courseware needs to be improved.
Fourthly, the operational measures are studied.
Professor Wang of Nanjing University gave a report entitled "Teaching and Learning under the New Mode of College English Teaching". Starting from the transformed new teaching mode, Professor Wang introduced the characteristics of modern educational technology and the current multimedia-assisted teaching methods to the participating teachers. The operation measures are as follows:
Should the new college English teaching be different from the previous teachers? Is the textbook-based teaching mode replaced by a teacher? Textbooks? A new mode of combining technical means with resources. In the past, English teaching focused on language skills and ignored application. Language skills are multifaceted and multi-sensory. Only through application can we generate demand, and through continuous reflection on demand can we improve our comprehensive ability. Therefore, English teaching in the new mode should focus on results to process, from language phenomenon to learning in language environment, so as to make students become passive and active, thus stimulating their inner learning enthusiasm. College English teaching under the new mode is mainly multimedia-assisted teaching. While making full use of multimedia resources, teachers should guide students in correct learning methods (setting learning goals independently, allocating learning time, searching relevant materials, etc.). Cultivate students' effective autonomous learning ability through various teaching activities such as online forums, topic research and peer evaluation. The classroom design of face-to-face teaching has also changed, and the combination of autonomous learning and face-to-face teaching has been implemented. Establish a network platform for autonomous learning to control students' learning situation; Face-to-face teaching is only the consolidation and exercise of autonomous learning content. The new measures adopted by the evaluation system include monitoring students' learning progress and time; The oral examination is conducted by online appointment. For the sake of fair and reasonable division, the teacher does not participate in the oral examination. In this way, the process evaluation and summative evaluation are combined to give the students' final grades. The implementation of the new teaching mode has achieved good results, and the teaching is more personalized, humanized, situational and interesting. The role of teachers has changed from a classroom leader to a builder of communication environment.
label
The shortage of college English teachers is increasingly prominent, and traditional teaching methods and means can no longer meet the needs of college English teaching in the new period. In this study, the curriculum reform of college English multimedia network teaching has been carried out, and fruitful research results have been achieved. This paper innovatively puts forward two modes of college English multimedia network teaching: classroom teaching mode and personalized teaching mode, which changes the original single classroom teaching mode based on teacher's teaching and has been implemented in college English teaching as a foreign language, and the teaching reform has achieved remarkable results.
