Henan University of Technology, located in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, was jointly founded by the Henan Provincial People's Government and the State Grain Bureau. It was selected into the basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions, the education and training plan for outstanding engineers, the education and training plan for outstanding agricultural and forestry talents, and the 20 1 1 plan.

Formerly known as the Central Grain Cadre School, the school is the only grain engineering university in China approved by the State Council and established in 1956. It is subordinate to the Ministry of Food, the Ministry of Machinery, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Domestic Trade. 1959 started undergraduate education, 198 1 started postgraduate education, and 1998 was placed under the management of Henan province.
