Sichuan fine arts institute has been running a school for 79 years. 1940 was founded in Chengdu by returned art educators Li Youxing and Shen, and 1950 was founded in Chongqing by the artistic backbone of Northwest Military and Political University.
1953 The two schools merged their fine arts and design disciplines to form the Southwest Academy of Fine Arts, located in Huangjueping, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing, and the affiliated secondary fine arts school was established the following year.
