——GPA, an internationally accepted evaluation system for students' academic performance, will be fully implemented in Peking University. The Academic Affairs Office of Peking University decided that all the courses that students have taken since grade 2002 (students before grade 2002 still follow the rules formulated by each department) will be automatically calculated by the computer and included in the report card. The Academic Affairs Office has written this mechanism into the Detailed Rules for the Management of College Students' Student Status.

The grade point system is one of the important supporting measures to implement the credit system. Since 1985 began to advocate the implementation of the credit system in China, there have been many discussions and studies on the credit system, which has affected the smooth implementation of the credit system. This paper analyzes and studies many problems existing in the process of adopting the grade point system in domestic universities, and puts forward corresponding countermeasures on the basis of comparing with the grade point system implemented in American universities.
