Inner Mongolia Agricultural University East Campus is located in the northwest corner of the petrochemical building in Saihan District, Hohhot. The school is a full-time ordinary college founded by the former State Forestry Administration and the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is a key university supported by "one province, one school" in the national western development, the first batch of national college students' cultural quality education base, and the institution receiving China government scholarships for international students in China.

It was selected into the basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions, the national public graduate program of building high-level universities, the program of characteristic key disciplines, and the education and training program of outstanding agricultural and forestry talents.
