What is people's impression of Durham University students?
Durham students live in the castle every day.
Durham students like football and lacrosse very much.
Durham students like to start with "actually".
In fact, the British university life in the minds of Americans is based on all Durham's works.
Durham students are very friendly. When they see someone who looks hungry, they will give them food.
Students from Bristol University are often admitted to Niu Jian but don't go, while students from Durham want to go to Niu Jian but fail. In other words, many top students who unfortunately failed to be admitted to Niu Jian were "stranded" in Durham.
1. Campus problems
Graduate students are basically on the main campus. For undergraduates, business schools have some applications. Basic information of the course, such as course location, duration, elective courses, etc., can be found on the school website.
2. University problems
There are 16 colleges in the main campus, among which Unistov is a college with only graduate students, and Queens Campus has two colleges.
The college is only a unit for accommodation and extracurricular activities, and there is no need for exams. It is optional and can be assigned a value.
Undergraduate students are basically * * * single standard with bathroom or worse, sharing rooms;
Graduate students can live in a suite with their own bathroom in Unistov, or they can choose or be assigned to other colleges.
All colleges are basically all-inclusive except Christmas and Easter holidays.
The San Cuthbert Society is an exception. It has two sites, one in Bailey and the other in Parsenfield. Brooks Building was built in 2006, which can provide apartment accommodation for undergraduates. Those who want to have a bathroom and kitchen can choose this college. It is the only main campus with three choices: no meals, half meals and full meals.
Bailey College includes the oldest university college, the second oldest hatfield College (these two are sworn enemies), St. Chad College and St. John College in the dining hall, which are said to have independent finances, distant relatives of Niu Jian, and the society of St. Cuthbert, which was separated from hatfield19th century.
Only cuths doesn't wear black robes. The advantage is that it is close to the city center, and the old house has a strong atmosphere and a stronger sense of tradition (except cuths), but it is also because the house is too old and the facilities are old, and the house protection fee is included in your dormitory fee.
Hill College includes Unistoff College, Saint Mary College, Saint Adian College, Humphrey Trevelyan College, collingwood College, Van Mildred College, Gray College and Josephine Butler College. I don't go there often, so I don't know. They are all on the road of Elvet Hill, which is close to most classes. The disadvantages are obvious-the road is long and climbing the mountain is very tiring. Some friends say that they can't walk any further, so they have to get off and take a bus.
3. How to live in a castle
Durham Castle is within the contract scope of university college, but not all university college students can live in the castle. According to a friend who lives in a castle, the following two conditions are basically met: I don't mind sharing a room with others, and I can't live during the Christmas resurrection holiday. Besides, living in a castle is not necessarily good. For example, Zhong Zhen, who knocks on the cathedral every 15 minutes, is not tolerated by everyone. ...
Step 4 rent a house
Undergraduate students can live in the college in the second and third years if they apply in advance, but the accommodation cost of the college is generally higher than renting a house outside. And it's fun to have a small garden if several people share it. You must start looking for the popular church street at the end of the year before last 10, especially the houses with few people run faster.
5. Campus scenery
Durham is very beautiful. I liked it when I first came to the open day in March, so I filled in Durham as the first and second choice. This is a big city, but the experience as a student is more like a town.
Located in the northeast corner of England, the weather in winter is very bad, especially in the morning and evening, and I often don't want to go out early. But as long as it clears up, it will knock beautifully. I still want to take pictures after passing each bridge many times.
The above is an introduction to what it's like to study at Durham University. I hope it will be helpful to students studying in Britain.
