Tsinghua University's predecessor, Tsinghua Academy, was founded in 19 1 1, and 19 12 was renamed Tsinghua Academy. 1928 changed its name to National Tsinghua University. 1937 moved south to Changsha, and jointly established the National Temporary University of Changsha with Peking University and Nankai University. /kloc-moved to Kunming in 0/938 and changed its name to National Southwest Associated University. /kloc-moved back to Tsinghua campus in 0/946, where there are 5 colleges and 26 departments of literature, law, science, engineering and agriculture.
Facing the future, Tsinghua University will adhere to the school motto of "striving for self-improvement, respecting morality and carrying things" and the school spirit of "actions speak louder than words", adhere to the school-running style of "integrating Chinese and Western, linking ancient and modern times, infiltrating arts and sciences" and the training characteristics of "being red, specialized and developing in an all-round way", and carry forward the tradition of "patriotic dedication, pursuing Excellence" and the spirit of "humanistic renewal".
At present, Tsinghua University has 2/kloc-0 colleges and 59 departments, and has become a comprehensive, research-oriented and open university with 12 disciplines including science, engineering, literature, art, history, philosophy, economics, management, law, teaching, medicine and interdisciplinary subjects.
