Beijing Institute of Printing is good at printing, and art design is a characteristic major of Beijing University of Technology.

Beijing University of Technology is a multi-disciplinary municipal key university focusing on engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, art and teaching. It is a national "2 1 1 project" construction university, a world-class discipline construction university, the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, a scholarship receiving institution of the China Municipal Government for overseas students in China, and a member of the Beijing-Hong Kong University Alliance.

It was selected into the discipline innovation and intelligence introduction plan of colleges and universities, excellent engineer education and training plan, new engineering research and practice project, national high-level university postgraduate construction project, national college students' innovation experiment plan, national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan and national college students' cultural quality education base.

The school was founded on 1960. At the beginning of the semester, some students from Beijing Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Beijing Institute of Technology and Beijing Normal University transferred to the school. From 1970s to 2005, Beijing Institute of Business Administration, School of Economics and Management of Beijing Union University, Beijing Computer College, Management Cadre College of State Building Materials Bureau (graduate department, Wuhan University of Technology), graduate department of North China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower and Beijing Vocational College of Art and Design merged to run schools.
