Karuin University was founded by Fatima Fihri, daughter of businessman Mohammad Fihri.
Kaluin University, founded in 859 AD, is older than Azhar University (founded in 970), Oxford University, the oldest English-speaking country, and even the oldest Bologna University in Europe (founded in 1088). According to the official certification of Guinness World Records, Kaluin University is the oldest and earliest institution of higher learning in the world to award degrees. In addition, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) also recognized Karoo as an institution of higher learning from the very beginning.
Kaluin University was originally built as a mosque, but it has its own school to provide a comfortable place for local residents to learn Islamic beliefs. Therefore, the place originally used for worship has many other functions. From the very beginning, Karuin Mosque has offered courses on faith and Koran reading, as well as courses on Islamic law, Arabic grammar, Sophie, mathematics, music, chemistry, medicine, astronomy, even political debate and many natural subjects. Soon, the Kaluin Mosque was expanded and a large number of infrastructure construction projects were completed. At that time, many residential areas, commercial areas, schools, steam baths and other facilities were born around the Karuin Mosque, and many of them are still in good operation.
