Northeast Petroleum University (formerly known as Northeast Petroleum Institute and Daqing Petroleum Institute) is located in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, and was founded in 1960. It is a university that focuses on engineering, with the coordinated development of engineering, science, management, literature, economics, law, teaching and art.

1978 was identified as one of the 88 national key universities.
