1953, under the care of the late Prime Minister Zhou Enlai, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission of the Central Committee allocated 4.2 million yuan to establish the Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Students' Tutorial School, the original site of which was Shipai.
1965, moved to Shougouling, Shahe, Guangzhou. The campus covers an area of 220,000 square meters with a building area of 35,000 square meters. Entrusted by the State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Guangdong Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and Guangdong Education Department are under the dual leadership.
From 65438 to 0968, during the Cultural Revolution, the school was forced to close.
1978, the school reopened, and Liao Chengzhi, the late vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC), wrote the name of the school.
65438-0985, Department of Chinese as a Foreign Language of Jinan University was established.
1In June, 1993, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Tutorial School was merged into Jinan University, and merged with the Department of Chinese as a Foreign Language and Preparatory College of Jinan University to form the Chinese College of Jinan University.
